Contemporary sculpture in a pre-historic landscape.
This summer Sculpture at Pilane presents guest artists from USA, Spain, France, Belgium, Great Britain, Norway and Sweden. An amazing sculpture has arrived to Pilane from across the Atlantic. "Damski Czepek" by Ursula von Rydingsvard is the largest and probably the most beautiful lady bonnet in the world. When showed in Madison Square Park in New York the positive sensation and aura about the work won the hearts of the New Yorkers and couples were queuing up to get married inside the artwork. The series of homeless animals by the British artist Laura Ford has also conveyed strong emotions. The homeless fox from last year's exposition has been joined by a homeless hedgehog and a badger also in lack of accommodation.
The internationally well noted artist Jaume Plensa from Spain brings to Pilane a strikingly beautiful sculpture formed by shiny letters. French-Vietnamese Nicole Tran Ba Vang has brought a sake bowl with hidden motives. Johan Tahon from Belgium displays a gigantic white lion and the Swedish artist Leo Pettersson has installed two very exciting sculptures in the newly restored hill that has been added to the exhibition area. At the hill's peak the splendid scenery of the Swedish west-coast is revealed. In the distance you can see the Carlsten fortress in Marstrand and the old Pater Noster lighthouse.
Jonas Holmquist uses sunrays to create exciting contrasts. Ulla Viotti introduces a "waterfall" paved with bricks. Participating for the third year in a row is the great Norwegian stone sculptor Kristian Blystad.
The second part of the exhibition takes place in the barn approximately 800 meters south of the outdoor exhibition area. In the barn you will see a solo exhibition with works in cedar by Ursula von Rydingsvard. Here you will also be able to visit our new Farmer´s café with homemade local specialties.
Welcome!
